Once upon a time, a boring wooden stool was rescued by a Fairy Queen named Solly Jo. She waved her artistic wand and transformed it into a fairy sized table! This dreamy ‘table’ makes a beautiful addition to a child’s bedroom or toy room. It is also very easy to replicate! Read more to find out how we made this dreamy piece.

Preparing the WoodUbend Fairy Table for Posh Chalk decoupage
The fairy painting that you see on the top of this table is a decoupage paper! We like to call decoupage paper our ‘cheat sheet’ to achieve stunning, authentic looking paintings on a surface. Posh Chalk has a range of limited-edition decoupage paper that showcases famous paintings, patterns, and more. This particular decoupage paper is called Floral Fairies.
Posh Chalk Decoupage paper is a high quality, beautifully designed paper available in both A3 and A1 sizes. This rice-paper based decoupage will bring your furniture upcycling projects to life and inspire your creative mind. They have been manufactured to be robust and pliable and so are easy to use for the professional or amateur alike.
Decoupage paper must always be applied to a white surface. This is because the paper is slightly transparent, so the white surface brings out the true colours within the paper.
We painted the top of the ‘table’ with La Magic Clear Sands paint. To apply the decoupage paper, we brushed a layer of Posh Chalk Pigment Infusor onto the surface using the Posh Chalk Smooth and Blend Brush. Resting the decoupage on the surface, we used a dry Posh Chalk Smooth and Blend Brush to smooth the paper and remove any air bubbles. Then, we applied another coat of Pigment Infusor. This helps to seal the decoupage, protecting it from wear and tear.

Decorating the table with WoodUbend
While the Pigment Infusor dried, we began applying WoodUbend to the table. For this project, Solly Jo wanted to use one of her favourite appliques, the WUB1186. This unique applique is a set of cupids.
If you are new to WoodUbend, WoodUbend is a revolutionary heat bendable wood moulding. When cool, it has all the properties of normal wood. It can be drilled, waxed, stained, sanded, distressed, painted and more. But when heated it becomes bendy and flexible. They are a fantastic tool to decorate furniture, as their seamless fit onto a surface makes them appear carved into the original piece.
Now, WoodUbend is in its 3rd generation. 3rd Generation WoodUbend are our strongest and most flexible generation yet. The revolutionary designs are crisper and more detailed, and the footprint of the mouldings has been designed for better adhesion to surfaces with less glue expulsion in hard-to-reach areas. Also, due to its incomparable density, it holds its heat for longer. This gives the user more opportunity to position it before it cools!
Most of the 3rd Generation of WoodUbend is sold as a pair. WUB1186 is an exception though, it is a 3 piece, featuring 2 cupids and a heart. Solly Jo applied the cupids to the legs of the table, bending them around the curved surface. The heart was placed in the centre.
We then applied the trim TR700 under the lips of the tabletop. This trim fit perfectly together with the style of the piece, as it features intricate cupids within the pattern.

WoodUbend prides itself on being user friendly. There are 5 simple steps of application:
Du ønsker at se lim blive udstødt under listen. Dette er et tegn på god vedhæftning til overfladen. Igen kan du tørre overskydende lim væk.
Blending the decoupage
Once the Pigment Infusor had dried, we took a craft knife and sliced the excess decoupage paper. This A3 design fit flush vertically on the tabletop, however there was a 1cm gap horizontally. This meant that we needed to blend the decoupage into the surface.
We selected 3 main colours from the edges of the decoupage – green, pale mauve, and brown. Then, we found their colour match in the La Magic Paint range: Royal Green, Vintage Rose and Vintage respectively.
We stippled these colours over the edges of the decoupage, slowly blending the paper and surface together. To help the blending process, we took a baby wipe and spread the paint in circular motions into the edges of the decoupage paper to fade the colours into the pattern on the paper. This helped to achieve a seamless blend.

Let’s start painting!
La Magic Paint has a range of beautiful colours. For this fairy table, Solly Jo wanted to create a soft pink blend using La Magics gorgeous, highly pigmented shades.
When blending, it is recommended to choose at least 3 colours. Your colours should be a dark shade, a mid-shade (or main colour) and a highlight which is your lightest colour.
The legs of this stool are a great place to start if you are new to blending. Simply place your colours like a traffic light up the legs, starting from darkest to lightest. Then, take a clean brush and a spritzer. Spritz the paint with a small amount of water, and then take the dry brush to pull the shades together using horizontal swipes. This will pull the colours together and create a smooth transition.
We applied two coats of paint to the table to get a perfect coverage.

Posh Chalk Metallic Pigment: Gold leaf dupe
For the final touches, this table needed some signature Solly Jo sparkle. For this, she used Posh Calk Metallic Pigment in pale gold, to compliment the soft pink blending on the table legs and body.
Posh Chalk Metallic Pigments come as a powder and must be mixed with Posh Chalk Pigment Infusor. Mixing it with the Posh Chalk Pigment Infusor allows the user complete control over the consistency of the product in its liquid state. For example, you can create a highly pigmented paste for full coverage applications, or you can create a pigmented liquid wash to add gentle sparkle to any surface.
Posh Chalk Metallic Pigments come in a range of colours. The gold shades are a great and economical alternative to gold leaf, and it is easier to apply.
We dry brushed the mixed pigment onto the WoodUbend that we had applied to the table. This allowed us to highlight the grooves and intricate details of the mouldings.

The finished piece is so magical, we love its uniqueness and beauty. It really is a table fit for fairies (or an adult sized stool!).
