Today, I’m thrilled to share the story behind my latest design board creation: the Glass Plaster Chandelier Design Board. This project was a delightful exploration of texture and shine, bringing together the rich depth of Magic Paint, the ethereal quality of Posh Chalk Glass Plaster, the luxurious gleam of Lemon Gold Metallic Pigments, and the elegant detail of WoodUbend trims. Come along with me as I walk you through each step of this artistic adventure!
Setting the Stage with Magic Paint
It all began with a vision of a deep, moody backdrop that would allow the shimmering gold elements to truly pop. For this, I reached for Nuit d’Amour by Magic Paint. Its name alone evokes a sense of romance and depth, and the paint itself delivers beautifully. I applied a generous coat to my canvas board, ensuring even coverage.
Now, because the surface I was working with wasn’t the most porous and to make absolutely sure I had a consistent and evenly applied base of this gorgeous blue, I followed up with a second coat of Nuit d’Amour. This step is crucial for a flawless foundation, so don’t rush it! Simply brush on the paint in smooth, even strokes and allow it to dry thoroughly between coats.
Bringing the Chandelier to Life with Stencil and Glass Plaster

With my deep blue canvas ready, it was time to introduce the intricate design of the Posh Chalk Chandelier Premium Stencil. I carefully positioned it on the board, but here’s a little foresight tip: I deliberately left a gap at the top edge. This space was reserved for some beautiful WoodUbend trim later on, which would act as an elegant frame.
Now for the exciting part – bringing the chandelier design to life with Posh Chalk Glass Plaster. This medium is truly magical! I took my sponge and began to gently dab the Glass Plaster over the stencil. The key here is to apply enough to work with later but not so much that it bleeds under the stencil. I worked my way across the design, ensuring each part of the chandelier motif was covered. Once I was happy with the amount of Glass Plaster I had applied, I reached for the Posh Chalk Lemon Gold Metallic Pigments. This is where the real alchemy happens! I generously sprinkled the loose gold powder over the wet Glass Plaster.
Next, I took my trusty Posh Chalk Premium Finishing Trowel. This tool is fantastic for smoothing and spreading mediums, and it was perfect for this stage. I ran the trowel over the Glass Plaster and gold pigment mixture, flattening it and ensuring good contact with the stencil. As I did this, I could already see the magic unfolding – the Glass Plaster and the vibrant gold pigments began to meld in certain areas, creating this incredible translucent effect with streaks of pure gold shimmering through. It was exactly the ethereal, slightly vintage look I was hoping for!
With the first part of the chandelier design complete, I carefully peeled back the stencil. And there it was – a stunningly textured and subtly sparkling image! To fill the width of my board and create a more impactful design, I repeated this entire stencilling process on either side of the original design with the Posh Chalk Ornate Damask Premium Stencil. This complemented the Glass Plaster Chandelier design perfectly, creating a beautiful motif that truly captured the essence of a grand chandelier.
Framing the Glass Plaster Chandelier with an Elegant WoodUbend Trim

Now, it was time to introduce the elegance of WoodUbend. I selected the TR814 trim, a design with a lovely, subtle texture. To prepare it for application, I first needed to warm it up. This is the beauty of WoodUbend – it becomes flexible and easy to manipulate with a little heat! I used my heat gun, gently moving it along the length of the trim until it became pliable. Once warm, I cut two strips from the main coil, making sure they were the same width as my design board.
To ensure a cohesive look, I wanted these trim strips to match the deep blue of my background. So, I reached for my Posh Chalk Mouldings Brush and carefully painted both strips with the same Nuit d’Amour Magic Paint I had used earlier. This brush is perfect for getting into all the little nooks and crannies of the WoodUbend mouldings. And here’s a clever two-in-one step: as I applied the heat to force dry the paint on the trim, it also kept the WoodUbend nice and warm and malleable – talk about efficiency!
With the painted and warmed trims ready, it was time to adhere them to the top and bottom edges of my board. For this, I used WoodUglue. This adhesive is specifically designed for WoodUbend and creates a super strong bond. I applied a thin, even layer of WoodUglue to the back of each trim strip, making sure to cover the entire surface that would be in contact with the board. Then, I carefully positioned them at the top and bottom edges, pressing firmly to ensure good adhesion.
Before moving on, I took a moment to trim off any slight overhang from the freshly applied TR814 strips, using a craft knife for a clean edge. Then, I gently sanded the edges where the trim met the board. This little step makes a huge difference in achieving a smooth, professional-looking finish.
Adding a Touch of Golden Highlight

Finally, to really make those beautiful details in the WoodUbend trim pop, I decided to add a touch of gold. I mixed some more of the Posh Chalk Lemon Gold Metallic Pigments with the Posh Chalk Pigment Infusor. This time, I wanted a thicker consistency, almost like a paste. The Pigment Infusor is fantastic for creating your own custom metallic paints! I simply added a small amount of the infusor to the gold powder and mixed until I achieved the desired thick, creamy texture.
Using a light touch with my brush, I carefully applied this golden paste over the raised details of both trim strips. The goal here wasn’t to cover the entire trim, but rather to highlight the peaks and textures, catching the light and adding a final touch of luxurious shimmer.
The Grand Finale

And there you have it! My “Glass Plaster Chandelier” design board was complete – a beautiful interplay of deep matte blue, the subtle translucence and golden veins of the stencilled design, and the elegantly highlighted WoodUbend trims. This project was such a joy to create, and it truly showcases the versatility and transformative power of WoodUbend and Posh Chalk products. I hope my journey inspires you to embark on your own creative adventures! Happy crafting!
